Structures
We bring innovation and value to ambitious projects
We inspire construction engineers who value the corrosion resistance, structural strength and design flexibility of our pultruded profiles.
With them we build all types of structures — the ideal solution when corrosive materials must be stored or environmental conditions are harsh.
Together we create forward-looking solutions
We work to create long-term solutions in Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer, in mining, chemical, petrochemical and pulp industries, among others, where corrosion is everyday business.
We manufacture industrial sheds, enclosures, roofs, cooling towers, platforms, and custom structures to specification.
This material is known for lasting in corrosive environments, compared with other materials [ such as steel or galvanized steel ], resulting in a maintenance-free product that resists weather.
It is also lightweight, allowing weight savings without sacrificing stiffness.
Our profiles have a high-quality surface finish, with surface veils and gelcoat that protect against UV and give a smooth, glossy finish.
Is the composite material strong?
Composite profiles have high tensile and compressive mechanical strength, approaching twice that of steel profiles. Although the elastic modulus is low, it is possible to achieve very light lattice structures that perform the same functions as other materials and have high stiffness.
So we can compare the composite with any other strong construction material.
But there is something fundamental: no structure is built simply to be strong — it is built with a practical purpose; for example, to be corrosion resistant so it does not deteriorate with the material it stores; to be transparent to electromagnetic waves; to save structural weight; to be dielectric when there is a risk of electrical conduction, and so on.
The composite cuts across any industry, and the practical purpose is what guides the choice of material.
Standards
The profiles we manufacture meet and exceed the properties specified by EUROCOMP "Structural Design of Polymer Composites" and ASCE [ American Society of Civil Engineers ], in its "Structural Design of FRP Composites".
As it is a linear-elastic material, it can be calculated with traditional equations or with design software.
How do they behave in fire?
As standard, all our structural profiles include fillers to meet ASTM-D635 classification HB and IRAM 11910-3 classification RE2 [ very low flame-spread material ].
When self-extinguishing behaviour is required, specific resins can be used. It is important to note that the composite does not melt, soften or bend, because it is not a thermoplastic: it is a thermoset.
